Play this PodVisit anywhere around Brockenhurst which is one of the oldest settlements in the New Forest - the Church of St Nicholas, positioned on the hill overlooking the village, is one of the oldest in England.

The village's expansion came with the arrival of the railway in the 1850s bringing visitors and wealthy residents who enjoyed the woods and gently flowing rivers nearby.  

WalkerWander through the streets of Brockenhurst - from the train station follow the road to Lymington until a lane signposted to St Nicholas' Church. You'll see the gravestone of one of the village's most famous residents - Brusher Mills (07).

The Watersplash can be found by heading down Brookley Road from the train station.

Across the A337 road from the the Balmer Lawn Hotel to the north of Brockenhurst is a walk path through Water Copse Inclosure to the point where the Ober Water and Highland Water meet to form the Lymington River.
