Play your PodVisit anywhere in the village of Beaulieu. Cistercian monks once lived here in the biggest monastic complex of its kind in England.  It was largely reduced to a ruin when Henry XIII dissolved the monastries.

Since 1538 Beaulieu and the surrounding estate has been owned by the Montagu family who live in the spectacular Palace House.

WalkerWalk through the village of Beaulieu alongside the Mill Pond.  A path beside the Montagu Arms hotel marks the start of a 3-4km walk along the tidal stretch of the Beaulieu River (12), through the North Solent Nature Reserve towards Buckler's Hard (13).

  • Green Tips: Food and drink which is grown or produced in the New Forest is low on 'food miles' and helps the local economy. 
  • Using your bike on the New Forest Cycle Network  saves pollution, eases conjestion and is good exercise.  Leave your car at home and use the New Forest Tour bus in summer.  Beaulieu Road is the nearest train station to Beaulieu.
