Play your PodVisit anywhere you catch a glimpse of New Forest Ponies. The ponies wander freely around the common land of the New Forest - the place just wouldn't be the same without them!
The ponies are not wild - they are owned by Commoners and over the years have been used for working on farms, pulling carriages and have even been drafted into military service.
Green Tips: New Forest Ponies have right of way on the roads - if you are driving stick to the speed limit of 40 mph.
Don't feed, pat or stroke the ponies - they can kick and bite. Getting them used to food hand outs also makes them more likely to wander towards dangerous roads.
