Play this PodVisit anywhere around Brockenhurst - Henry 'Brusher' Mills got his name as he 'brushed' the cricket pitch at Balmer Lawn.  But he was more famous for his exploits in catching snakes.

Who better to tell you about the New Forest's adders and grass snakes who live in the heathlands?

WalkerWander through the streets of Brockenhurst (06) - from the train station follow the road to Lymington until a land signposted to St Nicholas' Church where Brusher Mills is buried.

Across the A337 road from the the Balmer Lawn Hotel to the north of Brockenhurst is a path through Water Copse Inclosure to the point where the Ober Water and Highland Water meet to form the Lymington River.
