Learn about the Verderers, the ancient order of knights set up to enforce the harsh Forest Law, but who have overseen the unique system of Commoning which has preserved the New Forest's unique environment and way of life over the centuries.

WalkerWalk down Lyndhurst's high street - past the Parish Church (03) Stop off at a tea shop or antiques store and call in at the New Forest Museum in the main car park. 

Bolton's Bench (05) is a short walk out of town in the direction of Southampton from which several paths extend out to the Forest heath and woodlands.

  • Car parking is available in the village centre (pay and display) and at Bolton's Bench.
  • The New Forest Museum and tourist information centre in the main village car park is well worth a visit.

  • Help cut down on traffic conjestion in Lyndhurst.  The village is served by National Express coaches and Wilts and Dorset buses as well as the New Forest Tour bus (May - September).
