Play your PodVisit at Hatchett Pond on the A3054 just outside Beaulieu. This was the site of Beaulieu Aerodrome - one of 12 airfields in the New Forest which played a crucial role defending the South Coast during World War II.

Three decade before the war, 'magnificent men in their flying machines' were impressing residents with their pioneering spirit, taking off from the flying school at nearby East Boldre.

WalkerWalk through the village of Beaulieu (09) alongside the Mill Pond.  A path beside the Montagu Arms hotel marks the start of a 3-4km walk along the tidal stretch of the Beaulieu River (12), through the North Solent Nature Reserve towards Buckler's Hard (13).
